Celebrating age diversity at Genesis

What's age got to do with it...?
Blog by Age Network Lead: David Short

Hello, I’m David and I’m the Lead for the Genesis Colleague Age Network.

The aim of the Network is to support Genesis to be an inclusive employer for people of all ages: to help the business work with a diverse and multi-generational workforce. We take the lead in raising awareness of age-related employment issues.

Genesis already has a very age-diverse workforce, with colleagues straight from school and college through to and into their seventies.  There is no room for complacency, and we always strive to do better.

We run an ‘Intergenerational Buddying Project’, aimed at sharing skills between the generations in order to better equip everyone. For example, we know how tech-savvy young people are, so we want to buddy them up with other staff to show them those new technologies.  In return, they can get help on writing CVs, etc.  There is the potential to extend to a whole range of other skills and knowledge.

Genesis already has a very age-diverse workforce... [but] there is no room for complacency; and we always strive to do better.
