Celebrating LGBTQ+ at Genesis

Last updated - 6 November 2017

G-Force: the network for LGBTQ+ staff.
G-Force is the Network Group for LGBT colleagues at Genesis. We also welcome members from our partnering companies like Kier to come along too. You don’t need to identify as LGBTQ+; in fact, everybody is welcome.

We were founded in 2011, and organise social events and lunchtime discussion sessions across the year, with special focus on LGBT History Month in February. We also organise Genesis’ annual Pride London visit. (and we also go to Essex Pride now too!).

What is HouseProud?

HouseProud is a housing sector network group with over 45 members from across social housing and care and support sectors.  We co-founded this in 2014. HouseProud acts a voice for LGBT staff in the industry and organises thought-provoking speaker meetings, benchmarking and mentoring and coordinates a social housing bus at Pride in London.

HouseProud has recently carried out some research into the experience of LGBT residents living in social housing, which Genesis has co-funded. HouseProud has a website at www.HouseProud-lgbt.org.uk.

G-Force this year:

We joined other Housing Associations at Pride in London and proudly marched through the packed streets of the capital, with the biggest Genesis contingent since records began!

Co-chair Miles Lanham was voted as one of the top 10 Diversity Champions at the NatWest UK LGBT Awards.

For last LGBT History Month we arranged a series of lunch and learn speaker  events - a  highlight was a panel speaker meeting on LGBT Parenting with experiences from Trans, Bi and Lesbian parents.
