Corporate Social Responsibility

Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) plan is our commitment to improving the wellbeing of the communities we serve - one of our objectives from the Genesis Corporate Strategy. The aim is to improve social and economic wellbeing and environmental sustainability.

We support residents across a variety of areas. Energy saving, employment opportunities, enterprise, training and volunteering are some of the areas that we continue to develop and expand. Our work goes far beyond bricks and mortar.

We have published our 2016/2017 CSR report which highlights our achievements throughout the year. Our CSR achievements show how we have strengthened the way we work within Genesis and with our partners to deliver socially responsible and sustainable programmes for the benefit of our communities.

For 2017/2018 our CSR priorities are:

  • £4.3m HACT Social Value
  • 15 New Business start-ups
  • 80 work experience placements
  • 40 apprenticeships

As part of our continuing commitment to implement our environment strategy, we will focus on:

1. A set of standards for thermal efficiency, water saving and biodiversity for new homes in our Genesis Design Vision. We will begin to apply these for new housing developments.

2. We will install water-saving measures in homes at the same time as carrying out other works.

3. We will increase biodiversity in green spaces on our estates through better maintenance and management practices.

4. We will improve reporting from our supply chain on social and environmental targets to cover responsible sourcing, energy and waste.
