Gender Pay Equality Audits

We have carried out equal pay audits in 2009 and 2012 and are really pleased that the outcome has shown no significant gender pay gap. Our next audit will be done early in 2015.

The table below shows how Genesis compares at different pay levels for women across different sectors.

To compile the table below we followed this process with Opportunity Now benchmarking:

1. We took our fulltime paid staff and listed them by basic salary (i.e. excluding bonus payments and overtime) with lowest paid first.

2. We then split the list into five evenly sized groups (“quintiles”). So if you have 1000 on your list, and you split them into quintiles (divide the total by five), you will have five groups of 200 employees each.

3. Counted the number of women and men in each of the five quintile groups.

4. Then turned the numbers for each gender into a percentages. To reach this figure we compared the total number of women at Genesis with the number in each group. For example, if you have 40 women in the first quintile group and 150 women in your total workforce, then the number of women in your first quintile is 26.66% (40 ÷ 150 x 100).
