FA coaching qualifications

Genesis Community recently gave 20 young people the opportunity to attain the FA level one football coaching certificate.

The aspiring coaches first had to attend a series of planning meetings, leading up to the delivery of the qualification, offered by our partners ABC Coaching and the Middlesex FA.  12 young people went through this process to be put through their paces on the full course, delivered during the October half term.

The FA level one certificate is the first step that any aspiring England manager needs to take to become a coach. During the week the aspiring coaches learnt from FA experts a mixture of skills ranging from how to run a training session and emergency first aid to the all important shooting and turning with the ball.

The Genesis Community youth team provided ongoing pastoral care and support through telephone calls, meetings and outreach work. This was crucial in keeping young people interested and fully involved. Some attendees will be potentially be supported into volunteering and paid employment opportunities. Their names will also be added to local authority coaching registers.
