Health programme

Genesis Community has set up a health programme in Grand Union Village, Ealing called MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition… Do it!) for 7-13 year old children.  The programme is aimed at young people in the local community who are either overweight or obese.  The first of its kind for Genesis Association, the ten week programme began in May 2011 and consists of fun and interactive sessions for children and their parents to learn about leading a healthy lifestyle through healthy eating and exercise.  Fully qualified instructors will run the sessions for the duration of the programme.

MEND was established in 2004 and was devised at the world renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and now operates in the Commonwealth and the USA.  It has a proven track record of success for those who have attended the course.  We look forward to the opportunities and health benefits this will provide for the local community through addressing the important issue of childhood obesity so that children can grow up to have a healthier and happier life.
