Genesis appoints two new board members

Genesis Housing Association has appointed two new board members.  Both will play an integral role in ensuring Genesis is well governed and supporting the delivery of ambitious plans as it reaches the midpoint of its five year Corporate Strategy.

Stephen Bitti has been a Genesis resident for 17 years, and has been on its Customer Services Committee since October 2016. He lives in Camden and is the chair of his local residents association.

Stephen owns and is the managing director of Nudge Associates, a business offering specialist management consultancy and training to the health, wellbeing and development sectors.  He has a strong charity background, which has included serving as the former Chief Executive of UK Coalition of People Living with HIV and AIDS and an officer role at HIVsport.

Jenny Buck has been in the real estate industry for over 20 years, in a varied career that has included portfolio management and property banking.

Jenny is currently Head of Property and Alternatives at Tesco Pension Investment Limited, having previously been the Head of Global Property Fund of Funds at Schroders. She serves on the Board of youth homelessness charity Landaid and also sits on the Investment Committee at Girton College, Cambridge.

Stephen will be continuing as a member of Genesis’ Customer Services Committee, while Jenny will be a member of the Assets Committee.  Both were formally appointed at the Genesis Board meeting on 16 May (Tuesday).

Stephen said: “Genesis has been working diligently to improve customer satisfaction. I believe the organisation now needs to reassure residents that it is implementing the changes required while ensuring best value for money across its operations.

“As a Resident Board member, I am particularly interested in ways we can improve how we listen to and then better meet the needs of our customers."

Jenny said: “I’m delighted to be joining Genesis at what is a very exciting time, as it steps up its delivery of new homes and major regeneration projects in London and the South East.  Having had a long and varied career in the property and finance sectors, I understand well the way that Genesis combines its social purpose with a commercial approach to best deliver on its goals and support its customers.”

Dipesh Shah, Chairman of Genesis, said: “Stephen and Jenny will be major assets to Genesis and we wish them every success as they come on board.  Both have much to offer in terms of their wealth of experience and their understanding of Genesis’ future direction and commitment to its customers.

“As a resident, Stephen’s perspective will be very useful as we put improving customer satisfaction with our services front and centre in our work to deliver our five-year Corporate Strategy.  We were really impressed by Jenny’s longstanding property and finance experience, which will be invaluable as we drive forward on ambitious plans for the future.”

Genesis has also recently strengthened the breadth of experience on its Treasury and Customer Services Committees with the addition of three new independent committee members.  Helen Sachdev, the Chief Operating Officer at the Marsh & Parsons Estate Agency, recently joined the Customer Services Committee.  From 1 July there will be two new members on the Treasury Committee: Caroline Snowden, a Lending Manager in Standard Life's Commercial Real Estate Debt Team, and Laura Williams, Director of Origination for the Real Estate Business of Landesbank Baden-Wuerttemberg.
