Case study

Hazelyn Archibald our customer says: “I am very grateful for the support I received from the Employment and Training Team. I got in touch with the team because I needed to gain experience within an office environment and was making every effort to get a job after graduating from university. The team helped me refine my CV which I used to apply for a volunteering role within Genesis Connect. After volunteering with Genesis Connect for a month, the team supported me to apply for a volunteering role with Resourcing Group where I worked for six months.

During my volunteer placements I learnt a lot about teamwork, communication, problem solving task management and project planning. I can honestly say that all these pre-employment activities increased my self-confidence and boosted my self-esteem. Today, I am working as Intensive Support Worker for Genesis Tenancy Support Team. I would like to say thank you to the Employment Team.

I encourage all residents to utilise the services of the Employment Team. The team members are very friendly, professional and are always willing to help. I am a single parent and being in work is one of the best things that has happened to me. I feel I am being a role model to my son and I can also support myself and my family financially.
