Improving the prospects of young people in our communities
Genesis helps improve young people's chances in education and employment. We have programmes in place that support young people with the skills they need to get into work.

Since we launched our Work Experience Programme in March 2015, we've given work experience placements to over 150 young people. Our Apprenticeship Programme was also launched in March 2015. It has secured apprenticeships to over 90 young people at our Genesis offices and with our key partners.

We also support young people with their education through Tutors United. University students are employed by Tutors United to support 32 young people in primary school each year with their English and maths tuition. The project has multiple benefits by supporting young children's education and giving university students valuable work experience.

Corporate Work Experience Programme

Our corporate work experience programme at Genesis is aimed at our younger customers. It gives them the opportunity to get real life, valuable work experience. The programme is run annually (usually around October half term).

At Genesis we offer a wide range of placements including IT, Finance, Communications, HR and more. Last year saw us have our biggest intake to date. We had 13 departments managing 40 students across a working week.

Our work experience programme involves other activities for our young people. These activities include life skills sessions led by Barclays, tours of our regeneration schemes in Hackney and Barnet, plus student workshops led by our Genesis Staff.

Our work experience programme has been very successful and we are now Gold Standard Accredited by Fair Train. At the 2016 annual Spark! Awards, we were awarded Work Experience Company of the year, beating off the likes of Premier Inn and Sisco.

Apprenticeships are a great opportunity for anyone looking to progress their career. This is why we only offer high-quality apprenticeships across all of our departments. We have offered young people apprenticeships in HR, Communications, Neighbourhoods, Social and Economic Regeneration and many other areas of our business.

Last year we had 44 apprenticeship starts. Now that apprenticeships are available for all ages we expect to create even more apprentices. You can sign-up for our job alerts and look out for new apprenticeships by visiting our 'Apply now' section.

We also have access to apprenticeship opportunities with our partners including Construction. We can make a recommendation and refer you to the right opportunity regardless of your interest. All you have to do is contact us by emailing

Tutors United

Genesis has been partnering with social enterprise, Tutors United to deliver afterschool tutoring classes for our young residents at both our Woodberry Down and Grahame Park schemes.

They provide accessible afterschool tutoring for pupils of Years 5 and 6 with programmes to improve English and Maths attainment for pupils transitioning to secondary school. The tutors are university students that are trained and employed to tutor these young people – breaking down the barriers of dis-advantaged children and aspirations of higher and further education.

This service runs on Woodberry Down in Hackney and Grahame Park in Barnet. To find out more please contact
