Local community champions and housing experts are sought by Genesis Housing Group to join brand new Regional Committees to help improve how services are delivered in their area. The committees, which will stretch across London and the east of England, will sit at the heart of Genesis and influence the work of one of the country’s largest social housing landlords.
From monitoring the local work of Genesis to suggesting improvements to meet the needs of their neighbours, the Regional Committees will hold real influence over the future direction of Genesis. Committee members will work with senior staff to monitor the work of Genesis and make sure it is meeting its objectives and using its resources in the best possible way.
The creation of these new Regional Committees is part of the Group’s shake up of its structure and follows on from the Government’s focus on localism including the recent relaunch of the Prime Minister’s Big Society project. The committees mirror the drive towards greater civic engagement and volunteering.
Neil Hadden, Chief Executive of Genesis Housing Group, said: “These new Regional Committees will be crucial to help ensure that Genesis is delivering the right services to local communities. Our residents have a wealth of skills and experiences which are invaluable to Genesis and we want them to be a driving force to guide our future work and help us become the best housing association possible.”
Five new regional committees will be created consisting of Genesis residents and non-residents with an interest and understanding of housing. Genesis is especially keen to hear from residents from black and minority ethnic groups to represent the diverse communities in which Genesis operates. Training and support will be provided to ensure each member Everyone appointed will be provided with training and support in preparation for taking on the exciting new role. The committees will meet four times a year and work with senior staff on the delivery of first rate services.
