Next stage of Grahame Park regeneration receives thumbs-up

Grahame Park, one of the largest regeneration schemes in England, has received planning approval for the next major stage of the 90 acre development. The project is being delivered by Genesis Housing Association along with partners the London Borough of Barnet and Countryside PropertiesPhase 1b.

The second phase of the £800million radical Grahame Park development will provide around 450 new homes for the site in the heart of Colindale. Along with the raft of new homes, residents will benefit from a brand new community centre, library and shops.

In approving the plans, Barnet’s planning committee singled out Grahame Park as a model for other regeneration projects in the borough. They commended Genesis and its partners for their consultation work with residents as no objections to the plans were received.

Luke Riley, Genesis Project Director for Grahame Park, said: “With the resounding support of the planning committee, Grahame Park takes another step forward towards achieving Genesis’ vision of providing new homes fit for the 21st century.  This approval is a testament to the hard work by the Choices for Grahame Park team based on the estate and our close work with residents.”

Leader of Barnet Council, Councillor Richard Cornelius said: “Keeping the regeneration of Grahame Park Estate moving in these difficult financial times is a challenge and securing a successful planning permission for the next phase is an important next step.”

Work on the next stage of the Grahame Park project follows on from the recent opening of Heybourne Park, the green hub at the centre of the regeneration.
