'Meet your neighbour' event at Grahame Park

Following the success of the meet your neighbour event at Woodberry Down, the team of Genesis Housing Association staff at Grahame Park held a similar event earlier this month to bring their new residents together. Braving the freezing temperatures, residents popped along to get to know one another, meet the team and find out about community programmes and the latest progress with the development. With a hot food buffet, quiz and games residents had soon warmed up and were chatting to their new neighbours.

The event brought together the three Genesis teams that deliver services on the site. The regeneration team who manage the delivery of the regeneration and help residents with the transition to their new homes; the onsite housing management team who provide a first point of contact for residents’ enquirers and play a key role in the management of the new buildings including helping to combat antisocial behavior; and the Genesis Community team who deliver a wide range of community, training, employment and youth programmes on the estate.   

All helped out on the night and were on hand to chat to residents and answer any of their queries. From giving residents information about the next stage of developments and demolitions, to encouraging them to join the latest community programmes, such as the works club or energy advice sessions.

The event was also an opportunity for residents to let Genesis know about what social regeneration they would like to see in their area. Ideas such as more shops, increased safety or more activities for young people were suggested. Genesis will be using this information in the future to help tailor services for Grahame Park residents.

Genesis Property Manager Ludo Basse said: "The evening was a great opportunity to bring residents together to celebrate their moving into their brand new homes, and to encourage them to get to know their new neighbours. It was fantastic to see people brave the cold to come down and join in the fun, meet new people and pick up information about the great work Genesis is doing on Grahame Park"
