Warm home discounts on your energy bills

The clocks have gone back and the temperatures are plummeting. With all the major energy providers announcing steep rises in their prices, some people may struggle to pay their bills this winter.

If you receive benefits, you may be able to get a discount on your bills. Eligibility varies slightly between providers. Typical criteria include:

• Long-term illness or disability
• Income under £16,190
• Spend more than 10% of their income on keeping their home warm
• Long-term incapacity benefit, severe disablement allowance or disability living allowance
• Income-related jobseeker’s allowance, income support, employment and support allowance
• Child tax credits
