Madeley Road celebration event
Last updated - 2 October 2017
Genesis Housing Association held the event in the gardens at its popular new mixed tenure development spread across seven houses on the corner of Madeley Road and Hanger Lane. Attendees included staff from the contractor, Bugler, Living Architects and the Ealing Civic Society, who advised on the design of the scheme to ensure it was in keeping with the local architecture.
Guests were joined by the family of Diane Spencer, a Property Manager who lived locally and managed Genesis properties in Northolt. Diane’s husband Graeme unveiled a plaque in her memory and spoke about his wife’s kindness and dedication to her role. The event closed with reflections from former colleagues of Diane, who passed away in 2011.
Sarah Butler, Commercial Director at Genesis, said: “We are very pleased that this scheme, which has been delivered with so much spirit, collaboration, community focus and attention to detail, is being dedicated today to someone who was the embodiment of those values and a real asset to Genesis. Diane is very fondly remembered by her colleagues and by people in the communities that she served during her time with us.”
Madeley Road is a development of 50 homes for affordable and market rent and shared ownership. Genesis acquired what was then six derelict Edwardian buildings from Transport for London, and worked closely with the Civic Society and other local stakeholders to ensure that the design of the scheme was in keeping with the character of the area. The designs retained the Edwardian facades of the three buildings on Madeley Road, and ensured that the architecture of the new buildings complemented its surroundings.
